AP-Swiss organises inaugural workshop

APswiss

Ambassador Platform-Swiss is hosting the Space Applications and Services: The Next Generation workshop on 13 February at the Rolex Learning Centre of EPFL in Lausanne. This workshop will present the new opportunities offered by space-based applications while identifying the priority needs of the Swiss industry for both service providers and end users.

The increasing ability offered by the latest IT advances to combine the capabilities of positioning systems, Earth observation and telecommunication satellites opens up new opportunities for applications and services for many economic sectors: transport, logistics, commodities, insurance and finance, safety and security, infrastructure management, land and urban development, energy, food, water and tourism.

ESA has partnered with the Swiss Space Office to establish AP-Swiss, an Ambassador Platform dedicated to fostering the development of such integrated space-based applications for the Swiss industry.

Participating in the workshop will be Ms Magali Vaissiere ESA Director for Telecommunications and Integrated Applications and Mr Daniel Neuenschwander, head of the Swiss Space Office.

The workshop begins at 9:00 with introductions and a presentation about ESA's IAP programme, followed by presentations about on-going projects and developments in Switzerland. Sectorial needs and priorities will then be discussed. The workshop wraps up with a hosted cocktail and networking lunch.

Participation in the workshop is free of charge, but you are asked to register at www.ap-swiss.ch
