GEWS

Greenhouse owners are in a very competitive market, in which unexpected costs due to damage and decay of the greenhouse assets can cause severe problems. This demonstration project aims at demonstrating how a notification service using space data can help greenhouse owners to prevent or mitigate non-insurable risks threatening their business, and thereby save costs.

SkyLiberty CCN#1

Through the SkyLiberty project, ESNAH has created a service associated to a set of different products to support pilots and other aviation stakeholders in the performance of safe and effective flights.Originally designed for aviation, the SkyLiberty service has proven to be useful in several other domains (e.g. boats or trucks tracking).The service is composed of several modules named SkyUser (mobile application and web for pilots), SkyOperator (web application for operators, i.e. persons or entities owning and renting one or more aircrafts to pilots) and SkyLink (tracking device and satellite modem), which have different functionalities tailored to the needs of various stakeholders.

IBISA Phase 1

IBISA enables the new generation of insurance for agriculture, harnessing the use of satellite EO data and blockchain. IBISA is a mutuality-based system enabling smallholder farmers to share crop loss risk with low costs, fast assessment and payment and no need to file a claim.

DIGITAL MINE

Hypervine creates a digital twin of the quarry enabling companies to understand the physical site and their operations better. The digital twin is created through the use of a number of technologies including Space assets as well as distributed ledger technologies that bring high levels of transparency, trust and security to the digital twin.

 In parallel to the CLS initiative to design a satellite constellation dedicated to Space IoT called Kinéis, this study aimed to analyse the market opportunity  of a recently developed hybrid Argos chipset with terrestrial communication capabilities to fill coverage gaps . A largely increased satellite data collection capacity and low cost and small size terminals will permit to significantly multiply the number of devices. Three application areas have been targeted in the feasibility study: container shipping, artisanal fishing, equipment operation control especially for humanitarian aids. 

Mining air data for healthier, smarter decisions

Air quality impacts our health and quality of life. We develop analytical services to mitigate the impact of air pollution on people’s health. We combine satellite data with machine learning to develop dose-response functions for individual users. To help people with pollen allergy, we are also developing a pollen model to quantify and forecast pollen levels.

Electricity is the lifeblood of modern society and security of electricity supply is extremely important. Energy transmission and distribution networks are vulnerable. Information collected by satellites can be used to make the maintenance of the networks more efficient, to reduce risks due to the changing environment, and to mitigate the risk of interruptions.
