Based on user needs and industry skills, the evolution of customized solutions and the establishment of innovative services is accomplished through project activities. Focusing on various thematic areas, relevant information on the project activities is provided below.

BFPaaS

Status date: 09 March 2020

The terrain profiles play increasingly critical role in the risk assessment of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV) operations planning and related risk assessment. The BFPaaS service is aimed to create an automated system providing terrain profile (derived from the Sentinel-1 radar imagery and other data sources) along the pre-defined route.

EO Claim Ledger

Status date: 04 March 2020

The insurance industry is facing several challenges today: an increasing number of natural disasters and related losses strain their budgets. The EO-Claim Ledger aims to support the insurance industry by providing a fully automated claim management system making use of Earth observation imagery. Blockchain technology allows the provision of a secured system. It reduces administrative costs and prevents fraud.

RESUCI

Status date: 04 March 2020

RESUCI is an undergoing project developed to prove the technical and commercial viability of using spate assets and technology in support of resilient and sustainable right of way corridors for powerlines and pipelines, while simultaneous contributing to mitigate the infrastructure related negative impacts to the surrounding environment.

MARVELOWS

Status date: 04 March 2020

The project objective is to identify and specify new services using VDES (VHF Data Exchange System), so leveraging robust ship-to-ship, ship-to-shore and shore-to-ship communications that this technology makes available. Starting from e-navigation Maritime Service Portfolio (MSP) as defined by IMO e-navigation strategic implementation plan, two services have been identified that mostly match the Contractor business opportunities: dematerialisation and towage.

Orbital Witness

Status date: 27 February 2020

This project is working to provide archives of high-resolution satellite imagery alongside complementary property and legal datasets to allow real estate lawyers to conduct legal due diligence on property assets in a faster and more pain-free fashion.

GroWise

Status date: 27 February 2020

GroWise will give credit providers through the use of growth models for a variety of common African crops an accurate view of the crops in the ground.  It will also allow them to deliver agronomic advice, via a new app, to farmers – something which is currently lacking with small/subsistence farmers.

SAQM

Status date: 24 February 2020

The project objectives are to establish whether city scale produced vehicle detections from very high-resolution earth observation satellites can improve traffic emissions within air quality models, to fulfil our customer’s needs in a cost effective and timely manner.

C-HCN

Status date: 20 February 2020

SatADSL project with the objective to commercially offer a highly competitive High Capacity Networking (HCN) service with enhanced functionalities, latency and monitoring capabilities. The value proposition is based on the use of the SatADSL multi-satellites, multi-technologies, multi-frequencies Cloud-based Service Delivery Platform or C-SDP

GridEyeS

Status date: 18 February 2020

The GridEyeS project aims to integrate satellites images, weather data and drone imagery into a common platform to create a multi-layer risk map of the power grid network. This enables an efficient way of vegetation monitoring along power lines as well as failures prediction from extreme weather events, leading to a more stable and cost-effective management of the entire network.

SP4GO

Status date: 14 February 2020

SP4GO feasibility study addresses the needs of Distribution System Operators (DSO) and Transmission System Operators (TSO) using innovative solutions.Demand/Response and e-Mobility needs will be addressed in the context of Smart-grid area, while for the infrastructure operation and maintenance (O&M) the services considered are vegetation monitoring, electric consumption estimation, impact of weather events such as lightning on energy infrastructure, and satellite backup platforms for data exchange and communication.
