agriloc

Status date: 22 May 2018

agriloc targets significant improvements in agriculture through automation supported by satellites. For this purpose, a thorough market analysis and numerous user surveys have been carried out to identify current problems and needs of farmers. Projected agriloc systems and services have been validated through requirements definition, design, and field demonstrations in various user workshops and public forums at agricultural fairs. The solutions are aimed at supporting farming processes through integration of highly accurate Guidance, Navigation, and Control, with reliable connectivity utilising telecommunication satellites, and supported by new test systems and services to support farmers in their purchasing decisions.

 

agriloc FS

Status date: 24 August 2016

agriloc targets significant improvements in agriculture through automation. For this purpose a thorough user survey was carried out to identify current problems and needs of farmers. Projected agriloc systems and services were then validated in a user workshop. The solutions are aimed at supporting farming processes through integration of highly accurate Guidance, Navigation, and Control, reliable communications utilising communication satellites, weather and satellite data, and automation of farm management and process planning.

Snow avalanches kill people and damage infrastructure in mountainous regions worldwide. Avalanche warning services base their products mainly on numerical weather prediction outputs, networks of automatic stations and observers in the field. Presently many European networks are not dense enough and observations by people in the field are hindered by bad weather conditions or high avalanche danger.

3INSAT

Status date: 07 June 2016

3InSat demonstration project developed, tested and verified a new satellite-based subsystem, based on the Ansaldo STS ERTMS solution, for allowing the SIL4 train localization function at Signalling System Level by using GNSS. 3InSat also implemented an integrated solution based on the combination of SatCom, 3G/4G systems and TETRA to realize the link between the on board train control system and wayside signalling infrastructure.

 

SMS

The project comprises two activity streams:

  • Weather over AIS, which aims to extract weather information from vessels that use AIS to improve weather forecasting in areas where this information is scarce.
  • AIS and Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) data fusion, which enables the creation of a service for detecting “dark” vessels, creating a wide-area situational awareness solution for public entities.

Plastic Less Society

This project assesses the technical and commercial feasibility of space-related services to support the reduction of marine litter. A multi-technology approach is studied to detect and track marine litter in the coastal area. An integrated economic channel from the collect to the revalorization is evaluated, including the tracking solution and involving local fishing communities.

MWS-A

MWS-A is a new weather nowcasting service for airports with high spatial and temporal resolution. The service combines real-time positions and predicted trajectory data of aircraft, and high resolution nowcasts of the motion and evolution of observed severe weather phenomena. Using these data the MWS-A service engine derives predictions of upcoming encounters of the weather phenomena and aircraft within up to 30-40 minutes time window in the future.

EPM

TransDIm

Adaptix are Transforming Diagnostic Imaging by bringing low-cost, low-dose mobile 3D imaging to patients.  Today, common conditions such as fractures, cancer and lung disease are initially assessed by 2D X-ray which gives a fundamentally limited view of our 3D bodies. The products being developed in this project will deliver fast, accurate 3D imaging to these patients.

An online tool is developed to visualize coastal erosion and accretion in Togo, Senegal and the Maldives. The tool is powered by Google Earth Engine platform and will provide information relevant to coastal zone management, institutions involved in financial planning of infrastructure projects, the tourism industry and entities involved in early warning and resilience.

FEST

Vake is making the oceans safer and more transparent by detecting and exposing IUU fishing activity. They deliver Deep Maritime Insights through automated data fusion of vessel trackers and satellite imagery. During the project, the work included activities towards NGOs and Government Agencies working on analyzing IUU fishing activities and other illegal or unreported activities.

LymeApp

Lyme Borreliosis (LB) is a rapidly growing health problem in the Highlands of Scotland.  Prevention is difficult because of the paucity of information about “hot spots”.  LymeApp integrates georeferenced disease data into spatial models using Earth Observation data alongside data from GP surgeries, and the Scottish National Lyme Borreliosis Testing Lab to produce an interactive risk map.

WAMMO (AMMO CCN#1)

The WAMMO project, a continuation of Ascend XYZ’s AMMO project, aims to expand the service with ground radar data. Airports will be able to visualize bird activity and identify the associated areas of interest. Radar data and correlated EO data from multiple airports will be used to produce statistical models for airports not equipped with a radar and with similar habitats.

AMMO

Ascend offers two distinct disruptive services that cover all types and sizes of airports, from the smallest to the largest ones. These services offer analysis of Earth Observation data for safety monitoring of the airport surroundings, and combine it with a cloud and browser based management system. Thereby the AMMO services are supporting the airport operators who are asked by the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) to comply with the regulation EU 139/2014 on aerodrome safety. 

SAT SHV

Status date: 29 April 2021

The Satellite Navigation supported Shipment Visibility Platform (SAT SHV) for the Global Supply Chain Industry targets a platform to provide shipment visibility to players of International Supply Chains, in particular to larger Importers and Exporters as well as to Logistics Service Providers. Integration of Satellite Data AIS data of vessels as well as aircrafts is a key component of the designed solution. In addition, PLS embraces a holistic approach to cover multiple modes (sea, air, land) and is covering supply chains door to door.

ARCtic Sea-ice and CleAN monitoring

Status date: 17 January 2019

The project brings solution for a systematic and automatic detection of sea ice (including the identification of ice and marginal ice zone) and oil slicks in the Arctic from Sentinel-1 images. Based on Machine Learning (Support Vector Machines), it permits to process automatically thousands of images with high accuracy.
