Objectives of the service
The objective is to build a system that reduces costs and labour burden for small farmers in Europe. Nearly 2/3rds of farmers in Europe operate a farm of 5 hectares or less - yet tractors have gotten ever larger and more expensive to operate. Labour costs have also risen - to counteract this we are going to exploit newly available autonomous technology to help the costs and reduce the labour burden for small lot farmers.
Users and their needs
Our autonomous Mini Tractor offers a solution designed for small farmers, horticulturists, and hobby farmers alike. This is a customizable platform that tackles tedious everyday operations like spraying, mowing, delivery, … you name it!
All of that while also slashing operating costs.
The target areas currently include Europe and the United States.
Service/ system concept
Our autonomous MicroTractor empowers small farmers with a versatile, easy-to-use robotic assistant. Users define tasks like spraying, mowing, or delivery through a simple interface, specifying the area or route. The Mini Tractor then autonomously executes the task, using precise satellite navigation and sensors to navigate fields and avoid obstacles. It handles the repetitive, time-consuming work, freeing farmers to focus on other critical aspects of their operations. The system provides real-time updates on task progress and completion.
Space Added Value
Space assets are essential for the micro-tracto-truck's mission. It depends on high-accuracy, globally available GNSS like Galileo HAS to determine its precise location and navigate effectively. Without this capability, it cannot maneuver accurately in the field. Unlike ground-corrected GNSS, which suffers from dead spots, Galileo HAS provides correction signals from space, ensuring reliable precision everywhere. Without these assets, the micro-tracto-truck's mission is impossible.
Current Status
Initial robot types have been developed and the first prototype is being built.
