Objectives of the service

GeoNewsChain is a project to create a platform for posting and selling news information. Using blockchain technology, the platform can ensure constancy, reliability and protect data from manipulation. Any citizen can be able to use the app to upload photos and information, while pricing this content. Professional journalists, subscribing to the platform, can have access to the full database, allowing them to develop coverage more quickly and efficiently. GeoNewsChain is an innovative platform that uses GNSS and blockchain technologies to make it easier for citizens to share photos and information about local events.
GeoNewsChain is inspired by the democratization of information and the desire to give every citizen the ability to share reliable, local news on a global platform. The most powerful and relevant stories often come from those experiencing events firsthand. Our primary motivation is to enable everyone to share these stories and to transform citizens into active participants in the information process.

Users and their needs

The market demand is driven by several important and driving user and customer needs:

  • a need for quick access to information about local news, enabling citizens to keep abreast of the situation in their community and journalists to develop timely coverage;

  •  credibility and transparency of information are key, especially in the context of increased fake news and misinformation;

  • users are looking for an intuitive and easy-to-use tool for sharing and viewing information.

The platform also facilitates community participation, allowing residents to easily share photos and information about events happening in their neighbourhood. This can lead to greater local community involvement and media collaboration. In addition, users who share photos and information on the platform can monetize their contribution, which can encourage more people to use the service and create valuable content.

In the first phase, it is planned to operate GeoNewsChain within the city of Berlin. The range of services offered can be increased at a later stage.

Service/ system concept

GeoNewChain is an innovative information system designed for the collection, verification, and distribution of event data worldwide. Its unique architecture includes a range of key components that together create a comprehensive and integrated solution tailored to the needs of both individual users and professionals in the media and press industries. The system comprises user interfaces adapted for mobile and desktop devices, advanced APIs for efficient data exchange, an authentication server ensuring security and privacy, and an application server that forms the heart of the system, processing business logic. Additionally, a crucial element of GeoNewChain is the integration with blockchain technology, ensuring the immutability and credibility of the collected data. The system also includes databases, external services, a notification system, administrative tools, data security solutions, and a communication module, all combining to form a versatile platform that delivers reliable and up-to-date information about events from around the world.

Space Added Value

GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite System) - in the case of GeoNewsChain, can be used to automatically geotag and geolocate photos on a map. This makes it easy for users to share photos related to local events, while journalists can quickly identify news sources in their area.
