Objectives of the service
About 50% of people in the World, almost all in developing country, depends on burning wood, dung and crop residue for domestic energy, which generates high level of indoor air pollution every day. It corresponds to 3 billion of peoples undergoing potential threats from indoor air pollution.
Moreover, 2.4 billion people live without access to toilets mostly due to expensive infrastructure costs. This leads to pollution of the environment and pathogenesis through open air defecation.
It has also been observed that as a consequence of the increasing population, there's a worldwide need of increasing crops yield and production without increasing the areas of cultivable land.
To tackle these three problems Poworganic developed a circular micro-credit model which uses satellite imagery to give farmers instructions on how to apply the fertiliser.
Service/ system concept
Poworganic solution provides an improvement of local conditions on four levels:
- Biogas instead of firewood to prevent deforestation and indoor air pollution
- Toilet waste collection and treatment in partner with worldwide leading sanitation association
- Rich organic fertiliser through the digestion of organic matter in our biogas plant
- Satellite imagery based service to help farmers understanding their crop needs
Space Added Value
Poworganic will use earth observation images (Sentinel) to understand the health of crops and provide farmers with basic information on how to maintain them.
Current Status
Poworganic started its feasibility study in January 2019 and currently researching and studying the local conditions to improve the design of their business model.
