An application is a specific utilisation area of interest for a user. A service is an implementation of the application necessary to make it available and to provide support to the user.
In the frame of ESA Business Applications, an industry is defined as an entity which can be involved in the service either as part of its development or as part of its provision. Most often it means space industry.
In the scope of ESA Business Applications a user is defined as an entity whose needs can be covered with a service provided by a third party. By means of this, a commercial agreement is established between the user and the provider of the service.
