The world is changing. Natural hazards are evolving, and the threat landscape is becoming more complex. Satellite data and technology offer a unique vantage point to safeguard lives, infrastructure, and societies. This programme enables the development and demonstration of novel services that strengthen safety and security in an increasingly complex world.
Water is one of our most important natural resources, ensuring human survival and healthy ecosystems and is crucial for agriculture, food production, energy, biodiversity conservation and many other industrial sectors. Unfortunately, this vital resource is currently threatened by water scarcity, water pollution, climate change, water conflict, and more.
During the Business Applications and Space Solutions (BASS) Water Day event, we will tackle these water related challenges from different angles and discuss how technology and space can be a part of the solution. It will provide an opportunity for networking, for BASS supported projects to showcase their solutions and for new collaborations to emerge with the common aim of tackling water-related challenges.
BASS will also present upcoming opportunities for European industries who want to develop solutions for the transformation of the water sector.
Companies providing services tackling water-related challenges using space technologies have the opportunity to present their solution during a Poster Session.
The printed posters of the selected companies will be displayed throughout the event. Companies interested in being featured should register their interest by completing the application form by 31 March. Applicants will be notified ahead of the event if their poster has been accepted.
This session will explore the challenge of securing sustainable water resources in the context of increasing demand from high water-consuming sectors.
Session chair: Rahman Momeni, Satellite Applications Engineer for ESA
This session focuses on water operators and water managers who are responsible for delivering reliable and safe water services in an increasingly uncertain context.
Session chair: Manon Houyet, Applications Engineer for ESA
This session highlights how cities and local communities are driving innovation to address growing water challenges related to access, reliability, quality, and resilience.
Session chair: Massimiliano Arcieri, Satellite Applications Engineer for ESA
This session explores innovative approaches to financing water projects, highlighting the diverse tools and actors that can support sustainable water management, ocean health and sanitation.
This session focuses on the urgent need to protect oceans and marine ecosystems, which are critical for biodiversity, climate regulation, food security, and livelihoods.
Session chair: Noelia Abascal, Applications Engineer for ESA
The event is open to companies involved in the business of water, keen to have open, inspiring exchanges on the challenges surrounding water, and to find and hear about cutting-edge innovations shaping the future of the sector.
Please note: Attendance at the event is free of charge but registration in advance is mandatory.

Fishing plays a crucial role in our food security, serving as a sustainable source of protein which are essential components of a healthy and balanced diet. However, the fishing industry faces significant threats from illegal fishing, pollution and climate change. On the other hand, consumers are changing their behaviour becoming more conscious of their carbon footprint and seeking sustainable diets that promote health. This shift has led to a growing demand for fish and fish-derived products.
