Soft-Alpha

Soft commodities, such as soy and sugar, and their related financial derivatives, are widely traded on exchanges worldwide. At present, production data is only made available at fixed points through the year (usually after the growing season). The Soft Alpha project, co-funded by the European Space Agency under its Business Applications programme, provides predictive analysis on soft commodity crop performance based on EO derived data, in a sector that is currently dependent on historical data.

MERSAI

This new combination of datasets provides actionable insights on the status of the oil market.

JACKSON (AMAZON CCN#1)

This project is based on several ESA-backed projects, which resulted in the successful development of a set of telemedicine systems for civilian, military and commercial aviation applications. Since they were launched onto the market, the Tempus IC and Tempus Pro patient monitoring systems have been commercially successful in a range of pre-hospital care applications in Europe and North America.

This new project targets the development a range of products to allow wider implementation of telemedicine and patient data sharing through easy to install technology. This will enable access to larger market segments through cardiac electro-therapy solutions and data sharing capabilities.

Electronic Monitoring

This Demonstration Project analyses the technical feasibility and economic viability of a next generation European EM system/service featuring advanced Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS), including Galileo.

STAP-ULD

STAP ULD-Watcher provides a new and patented solution for monitoring and tracking airfreight container (ULD) in all airports of the world. Supported by IATA regulations the ULD-Watcher will help to avoid delays, lost baggage or goods and will reduce insurance cost dramatically and increase general profit for the customers of STAP.

ERMS

KVS Technologies automates drones, enabling them to deliver emergency response services for power grid operators in case of power outages or problems on the grid. To further strengthen this offering, KVS Technologies explored the use of satellite communication and Earth observation, to allow it to operate even in emergency situations where the cellular network is down. 

NetVR

Status date: 30 April 2020

NetVR is an easy to use and intuitive virtual reality application that can visualise underground assets of one or more utilities. It receives data from a cloud database and shows the data in 3D extended reality, with high accuracy, on a mobile device. Positioning is based on standard GPS in a standard device (e.g. tablet) and corrected using a calibration algorithm and reference points.

ATMM

The driving force of SBI is to invent and develop innovative solutions. As a new service, the Automated Transportation Mining Monitoring is designed to provide transparency on global coal flows. It monitors volumetric changes of coal stock piles at harbor sites, activities of vessels and harbor infrastructure. The services will be available via different channels according to the customers’ needs.

EOMST

Status date: 22 April 2020

The 21Net system enables Internet services on board high-speed trains. The system uses several communication technologies to access the internet: cellular, Wi-Fi and satellite. A Mobile Access Router manages the links switching from one to the other depending on their availabilities. The goal of the project is to improve Users’ experience of the current system by optimizing the bandwidth usage. In a final phase, 21Net will improve the overall system performance with the development of a new generation of its Mobile Access Router: MAR4

Shrub Mapping

The Shrub Mapping service is intended to detect shrub management needs in young boreal forest areas. Based on Terramonitor’s Earth observation and multi-source data, the cloud service maps large forest areas, analyses and monitors the shrub situation in conifer forests and generates insights about the need for forest management duties anywhere in the world.  

Diagnostic ECG garment

KYMIRA is developing smart wearable garments that interact with the human body to change, improve and one day save the wearers’ lives. This project built on a previously developed cardiac monitoring prototype garment, investigating its ability to identify developing cardiovascular conditions and detect the onset of acute cardiac events through machine learning software.

ASMSpotter

With ASMSpotter, local authorities get regular, automatic updates of artisanal mining activity in their area of interest. The service is powered by Machine Learning so that large areas can be monitored at no extra effort.

GIP4 Smart Airports

Fourteen million flights are expected in 2035 in Europe. To increase airport capacity and efficiency, optimisation at every step must be carried on. GIP4SmartAirports projects aims at minimizing rotation time and smoothing real-time operations. Space technologies can be a valuable asset to support surveillance and safety, and help airport manager to maintain high quality and complete knowledge of their assets.

SmartCARE

SmartCARE is an ICT platform of advanced e-health services where physicians and patients meet and manage daily activities, within a therapeutic process, in a collaborative way enabling an optimization of healthcare rehabilitation at home. SmartCARE IHC (Integrated Home Care) services will assure a constant verification of the therapeutic process without requiring the on-site presence of medical staff.

AR.fx

AR.fx enables users to create, place and to interact with location-based 3D content in Augmented Reality utilizing smartphones. It incorporates gamification elements such as blueprint (users can connect pre-defined line-dots in AR and create 3D objects) and multi-player capability along with AR Scene-Editor. On a global map users can explore and physically interact with AR content of interest.

KosmoMed

SaMoLoop

SkyLiberty CCN#1

Through the SkyLiberty project, ESNAH has created a service associated to a set of different products to support pilots and other aviation stakeholders in the performance of safe and effective flights.

Originally designed for aviation, the SkyLiberty service has proven to be useful in several other domains (e.g. boats or trucks tracking).

The service is composed of several modules named SkyUser (mobile application and web for pilots), SkyOperator (web application for operators, i.e. persons or entities owning and renting one or more aircrafts to pilots) and SkyLink (tracking device and satellite modem), which have different functionalities tailored to the needs of various stakeholders.

TreeTops

Status date: 15 November 2019

Treetops use high-resolution images from Satellites, UAVs and Airplanes, to facilitate the use of remote sensing in the forest industry. This online tool analyse forest Canopy Cover and Single Tree Detection. Compared to traditional measurement methods, this new solution enables more reliable analysis for forest monitoring and estimation of the forest assets.

ARGOS > INSIDE

In parallel to the CLS initiative to design a satellite constellation dedicated to Space IoT called Kinéis, this study aimed to analyse the market opportunity  of a recently developed hybrid Argos chipset with terrestrial communication capabilities to fill coverage gaps . A largely increased satellite data collection capacity and low cost and small size terminals will permit to significantly multiply the number of devices. Three application areas have been targeted in the feasibility study: container shipping, artisanal fishing, equipment operation control especially for humanitarian aids.

 

EO Claim Ledger

The EO-Claim Ledger aims to support the insurance industry by providing a fully automated claim management system making use of Earth observation imagery. Blockchain technology allows the provision of a secured system. It reduces administrative costs and prevents fraud.

MARVELOWS

Status date: 04 March 2020

The project objective is to identify and specify new services using VDES (VHF Data Exchange System), so leveraging robust ship-to-ship, ship-to-shore and shore-to-ship communications that this technology makes available. Starting from e-navigation Maritime Service Portfolio (MSP) as defined by IMO e-navigation strategic implementation plan, two services have been identified that mostly match the Contractor business opportunities: dematerialisation and towage. 

RESUCI

GroWise

GroWise will give credit providers through the use of growth models for a variety of common African crops an accurate view of the crops in the ground.  It will also allow them to deliver agronomic advice, via a new app, to farmers – something which is currently lacking with small/subsistence farmers.

Fully Automating Data Pipeline

In 2010, the United Nations explicitly designated that "safe, clean, accessible and affordable drinking water” is not only a necessity, but also a fundamental human right. However, we live in an imperfect world, in which man-made activities and natural disasters create conditions that limit our access to water and expose us to dangerous water events. Organisations around the world have recognised this challenge and shown their commitment to creating, as the World Bank terms it, “a water-secure world for all.”

IMGeospatial is honoured to be part of this movement and has partnered with three clients to address the biggest water-related threats to our livelihood: flooding, water scarcity and water quality. We provide business intelligence that enables them to proactively manage their water systems, build resilience in their communities and ultimately minimise risk and impact. CRUISE

CRUISE intents is to design, develop and validate a CyberSec Test Range for UAS/RPAS. This technological framework combining ICT, EO and SATCOM, will be located in the Grottaglie Airport (Italy), a facility that experiments RPAS and studies the integration of UAS in non-segregated airspace. It will offer the overall assessment of vulnerability and resilience of UAS with respect to cyber-attacks.
