PV Forecast Service

Careview

Careview is a web-app that uses GNSS positioning to improve the accuracy of outreach and door-knocking to identify socially isolated residents in a city, helping councils save money. This satellite technology is vital to improve the statistical chances of finding socially isolated residents. Careview was the only non-clinical solution to win an NHS Innovation Award in 2017. As a result of the ESA co-funded Demonstration Project, Careview has now been deployed in Leeds and Bury in Greater Manchester.

AirTracks

AirTracks compromises a flexible and cost-efficient Flight Information Service for enhanced aircraft safety during approach and departure at small and medium airports and airfields. AirTracks combines various aircraft surveillance information (ADS-B, RADAR, FLARM, etc) in the vicinity of the airfield. The information will be visualized on a web based display, showing the relevant/customized ancillary information layers in a user-friendly way e.g. flight plan, aeronautical charts, meteorological information as well as safety related notifications to aircraft pilots (NOTAMS).

The SeaUrchin

AirTracks

ONE CLASS! Open Network for Education

The ONE CLASS! project proposes an efficient satcom based solution integrated with eLearning services, aiming at supporting two main activities:

  1. Basilicata Multi-classes: ONE CLASS! supports rural schools located in the Basilicata Region (IT), which need to face the problem of the so-called “multi-classes” with the additional constraint represented by the geographical isolation.
  2. Social Integration Services for Foreign Unaccompanied Minors (FUM): ONE CLASS! supports social operator entities and reception centres of immigrants and all other NGOs active in the field, which need to offer to foreign unaccompanied minors (FUM) educational and social inclusion services, being often located in very remote areas.

FAMOS

The principal objective of the FAMOS project is to develop a comprehensive forest status monitoring system tailored to the requirements of commercial clients from the commodity sector, especially within the context of cocoa, palm oil, and rubber. SP4GO

SP4GO feasibility study addresses the needs of Distribution System Operators (DSO) and Transmission System Operators (TSO) using innovative solutions.

Demand/Response and e-Mobility needs will be addressed in the context of Smart-grid area, while for the infrastructure operation and maintenance (O&M) the services considered are vegetation monitoring, electric consumption estimation, impact of weather events such as lightning on energy infrastructure, and satellite backup platforms for data exchange and communication.

B-LiFE - TEN

SENECA

SENECA (Space Enabling blockchaiN for Emobility appliCAtions) aims to provide blockchain-enabled services to manage the energy flow between e-vehicles and the grid using space-assets. The goal of the services derived from this kick-start, is to allow in the future users to perform energy-transactions in a secure and agile blockchain environment, where smart contracts will enable the utilization of e-vehicles battery in relationship with renewable energy availability, facilitate e-vehicles fleet management needs, and finally support the electrical grid necessities.

SPARK ME

SPARK ME develops an acceleration programme to attract, support and validate new application and service ideas using Satcom in association with additional space technologies. The ultimate goal is stimulating the creation and growth of new markets of space/satellite-based services, addressing the real users’ need and triggering cross-fertilization processes by "contaminating" other areas of activity with the use of space technologies.

Soft-Alpha

Soft commodities, such as soy and sugar, and their related financial derivatives, are widely traded on exchanges worldwide. At present, production data is only made available at fixed points through the year (usually after the growing season). The Soft Alpha project, co-funded by the European Space Agency under its Business Applications programme, provides predictive analysis on soft commodity crop performance based on EO derived data, in a sector that is currently dependent on historical data.

MERSAI

As water becomes increasingly scarce, it has become important to manage this resource. The problem of accessing safe drinking water is a major concern, there is a need to reuse treated wastewater and prevent pollution of water sources.

The ProDiRec AI service provides the possibility to recognize product distribution in retail stores by analysing crowdsourced retail shelf photos and detecting products on these photos automatically.

OTAM

The OTAM (Oil Trading Analytics Monitor) is a comprehensive solution for the oil trading analytics market, created by seamlessly combining data from the maritime (AIS+) and remote sensing (optical and SAR) sectors with oil analytics data. This new combination of datasets provides actionable insights on the status of the oil market.

JACKSON (AMAZON CCN#1)

This project is based on several ESA-backed projects, which resulted in the successful development of a set of telemedicine systems for civilian, military and commercial aviation applications. Since they were launched onto the market, the Tempus IC and Tempus Pro patient monitoring systems have been commercially successful in a range of pre-hospital care applications in Europe and North America.

This new project targets the development a range of products to allow wider implementation of telemedicine and patient data sharing through easy to install technology. This will enable access to larger market segments through cardiac electro-therapy solutions and data sharing capabilities.

Electronic Monitoring

This Demonstration Project analyses the technical feasibility and economic viability of a next generation European EM system/service featuring advanced Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS), including Galileo.

STAP-ULD

STAP ULD-Watcher provides a new and patented solution for monitoring and tracking airfreight container (ULD) in all airports of the world. Supported by IATA regulations the ULD-Watcher will help to avoid delays, lost baggage or goods and will reduce insurance cost dramatically and increase general profit for the customers of STAP.

ERMS

KVS Technologies automates drones, enabling them to deliver emergency response services for power grid operators in case of power outages or problems on the grid. To further strengthen this offering, KVS Technologies explored the use of satellite communication and Earth observation, to allow it to operate even in emergency situations where the cellular network is down. 

NetVR

Status date: 30 April 2020

NetVR is an easy to use and intuitive virtual reality application that can visualise underground assets of one or more utilities. It receives data from a cloud database and shows the data in 3D extended reality, with high accuracy, on a mobile device. Positioning is based on standard GPS in a standard device (e.g. tablet) and corrected using a calibration algorithm and reference points.

ATMM

The driving force of SBI is to invent and develop innovative solutions. As a new service, the Automated Transportation Mining Monitoring is designed to provide transparency on global coal flows. It monitors volumetric changes of coal stock piles at harbor sites, activities of vessels and harbor infrastructure. The services will be available via different channels according to the customers’ needs.

EOMST

Status date: 22 April 2020

The 21Net system enables Internet services on board high-speed trains. The system uses several communication technologies to access the internet: cellular, Wi-Fi and satellite. A Mobile Access Router manages the links switching from one to the other depending on their availabilities. The goal of the project is to improve Users’ experience of the current system by optimizing the bandwidth usage. In a final phase, 21Net will improve the overall system performance with the development of a new generation of its Mobile Access Router: MAR4
