S-EDGE

S-EDGE is a demonstration project aims to contribute with innovative services to manage public security (Law Enforcement) through a solution, based on the use of Drones, which integrates new 5G broadband connectivity together with satellite technologies.

The service is conceived to support law enforcement operations for preventing and detecting crime and/or dangerous situations for the citizens, thanks to the provision of a Drone-based surveillance solution.

RESUCI DEMO

RESUCI – DEMO is focused on the implementation of pre-operational services that aim at improving recurrent daily operations of critical infrastructures’ managers, including energy operators and forest managers.

For this, two services have been implemented using Earth Observation (EO) imagery:

  • Service 1: Right of way monitoring for obstacles and activity detection – standing as an alternative to traditional methods of characterizing and monitoring the rights-of-ways of linear networks, this EO based service provides faster updated characterization of the land use, when compared to traditional methods

  • Service 2: Field maintenance operations management and control - this service fills a gap and stands a high value management tool that prevents the need for common monitoring approaches, typically by deployment of field teams. Also, this service is designed to be provided continuously, providing users with up-to-date information on the status of the maintenance tasks

PALETTE

PALETTE is a technology and platform that uses satellite data to produce synthetic cloud-free images and deliver unique value to the earth observation industry and other industries. By combining satellite constellations, PALETTE can provide users with access to continuous, up-to-date imagery and simplify the data acquisition process.

SMS

Status date: 16 December 2022

The project comprises two activity streams:

  • Weather over AIS, which aims to extract weather information from vessels that use AIS to improve weather forecasting in areas where this information is scarce. 

  • AIS and Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) data fusion, which enables the creation of a service for detecting “dark” vessels, creating a wide-area situational awareness solution for public entities.

AIS+

The availability of qualitative data is crucial for the automation of ports. The automation process is often hampered by data streams that are incorrect, have insufficient resolution or are incomplete. This service will provide verified and improved AIS data based on space assets.

eOdyn SeaWaze Offshore Demo Project

eOdyn SeaWaze Offshore Demo Project sought to develop a service called SeaOps by eOdyn. It is a new decision support tool to boost marine operations efficiency while supporting risk mitigation and cost reduction. This tool has been developed within the SeaWaze Offshore Demo Project. The pledge is to avoid unnecessary ocean currents and sea-state related weather down times, from bidding phase to execution.

ITS EQUANT

By leveraging satellite communications and geo-positioning, the ITS (Intelligent Transportation System) Equant consortium aims to make Valerann’s technology more scalable and capable in roads where there is limited cellular connectivity. In doing so, the consortium will make the benefits of active traffic management available to all roads.

SNOWtoWATER

SNOWtoWATER service provides high resolution and accurate snow water equivalent and snow cover data. SNOWtoWATER makes use of innovative A.I. algorithms fed by remote sensing data and quantitative sitespecific analysis, providing results through a digital platform.

SOILRISK

SOILRISK is a high-resolution Predictive Model Application for Landslides that gathers atmospheric and environmental data and converts it into valuable intelligence in order to forecast landslide occurrence and provide a warning system for prevention.
SOILRISK is based on an innovative Machine Learning approach and a proprietary early-warning algorithm, using more than 20 conditioning factors dynamically.

Urban Space Series

The Urban Space Series is a real-time index of urban economic development. The product developed in common with ESA and QuantCube Technology is an IA platform for land characterization, specifically to detect urban city area, based on satellite images. The service monthly provides the shape of selected cities and useful metrics such as area and urban change detection.

SEOS

SEOS is an initiative led by Ecometrica to advance applications of Earth Observation in Scotland aiming to increase the consistency, continuity, extent and usefulness of geospatial content through the provision of services that address environment and land management challenges faced by a number of Scottish public and private organisations. Global Surface Intelligence is a project partner, providing advanced satellite data processing.

WatAspace

The answer to these questions is not always easy to find, especially on ungauged rivers and on reservoirs managed by third parties. WatAspace answers these questions by using satellite data, without the need of in-situ sensors

SODOR

This Satellites for Digitalisation of Railways (SODOR) project will deliver pilot demonstrations of improved network connectivity for train monitoring and passenger broadband. The project aims to demonstrate how new constellations of communication satellites can seamlessly fill gaps in terrestrial coverage and provide additional capacity to improve safety and provide travellers with better connectivity.

Unibap demonstrated the SpaceCloud-as-a-Service (SCaaS) business model and SpaceCloud ecosystem which brings edge, cloud, and storage capabilities with flexible analytics to satellites. SpaceCloud enables low latency, high value actionable information, better optimized and managed downlink bandwidth, and increased satellite utility. This benefits many different business verticals such as precision agriculture, crisis and disaster management, civil and defence security and environment preservation.

TerraRisk

CyStellar TerraRisk RE is a data analytics platform, designed to deliver real-time geospatial insights and intelligence into risk and underwriting, reserving and rate making, insurance portfolio optimization and claim assessment processes.

MiLoW-RRS-DP

To enable the growing community of outdoor enthusiasts to better plan and prepare safe and enjoyable activities, MetGIS, DLR/DFD and Outdooractive developed a fully integrated one-stop-shop solution for weather-based trip planning and decision support on tour. The recommendation features, warning services, high resolution weather forecasts and snow cover maps are powered by space technologies and space derived data.

Climate-proofing of buildings

To make existing buildings more environmentally and socially sustainable, we need to know how efficiently they work with energy. Energy auditing is used for this purpose. It determines a building’s energy performance and identifies energy-saving opportunities.

The key component to energy auditing is climate data.
Outdoor temperatures are used to assess the energy performance of heating systems.
Solar radiation is used to assess the energy performance of photovoltaic systems.

The availability and accuracy of these data are crucial.

Using MeteoInsight, there is no need to use data from distant weather stations and waste time manually processing the data.

HOPE

Human safety is a critical factor that defines the iGRC (intristic Ground Risk Class) of the Unmanned Aircraft Systems operations. The HOPE project aims to integrate various source data, including satellite data (SatEO), to forecast human mobility over time, with the help of artificial intelligence and provide the derived information to operators&authorities.
