SyriUS

Status date: 04 April 2020

SyriUS is developing innovative data services for bathymetric mapping, benthic mapping, seafloor characterization, habitat mapping, and environmental monitoring. Current end users experience a lack of such data availability. For example, bathymetric maps are often outdated and not available for very shallow waters. SyriUS proposes three innovative data services that combine proven earth observation (EO) technology from EOMAP GmbH & Co.  KG with unmanned maritime systems (UMS) solutions from Maritime Robotics AS. Data products created via the SyriUS services provide larger area coverage than can be obtained using only UMS, and with greater accuracy than can be obtained using only EO solutions.

ARCAmarine

MoSCI-ECOSPACE

The MoSCI - ECOSPACE product is a service for storage, processing, visualisation and analysis of Earth and airborne observation datasets. It aims at delivering meaningful information for overseeing and managing risks to critical infrastructure (CI) in coastal and riverine settlements. The service targets in priority the public water authorities responsible for managing coastal and riverine areas and resources; the utilities, contractors and engineering consultants; and the international financial institutions and insurance brokers.

MoSCI

MoSCI - ECOSPACE is a suite of web-based subscription services for storage, processing, visualisation and analysis of earth and airborne observation datasets - spanning over a range of spatial and temporal resolutions, with capacity to deliver meaningful information for overseeing and managing risks to critical infrastructure (CI) in coastal and riverine settlements and be an early-warning decision support system.

Village Data Analytics

Village Data Analytics (VIDA) is a software-enabled service that automatically identifies remote villages and determines their suitability for a micro-grid installation using earth observation data and machine learning algorithms.

VIDA can be scaled across large user-defined areas to find a portfolio of viable micro-grid sites. This data-driven knowledge de-risks projects, reduces time and planning costs and enables investment at scale.

GREy (former BFPaaS)

The terrain profiles play increasingly critical role in the risk assessment of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV) operations planning and related risk assessment.

The BFPaaS project is a continuation of the feasibility study on the same topic and will end up in a creation of an automated system providing terrain profile (derived from the Sentinel-1 radar imagery and other data sources) along the pre-defined route.

 

Space for Sanitation - Woodco

This Feasibility Study explores business opportunities for the utilisation of satellite earth observation data, satellite communication and terrestrial communications to link toilets and sewage treatment facilities to wider sensor networks, to significantly augment sanitation management and the monitoring of public health.

MonICATO

MoniCATO proposes a backward compatible solution to secure the use of satellite-derived time in devices used by power grids (like Phasor Measurement Units and Intelligent Electronic Devices), combining authenticated Galileo signals, digital identity and Distributed Public Key Infrastructure (DPKI). Overall, the project proposes a new concept for the secure transmission of timing data among the nodes of the network and offers enhanced services for the monitoring of intentional interfering and cyber-attacks against GNSS signals and network devices.

Car-lileo

Car-lileo is a trustful, European platform solution giving car dealerships, detailers, service providers and the mobility sector an overview of their stock and insights at the Point of Sale. Cars, assets and persons interacting with them are located indoor/outdoor seamless, processes are optimized and customer experience enhanced.

RiPolMin

RiPolMin is a smart remote monitoring tool aimed at detecting pollution of rivers by mines. It is being developed and tested on abandoned mines in Cornwall, UK, and is designed for land, environmental and liability management. The tool applies novel processing to Sentinel-2 and drone-borne spectral signatures, to identify problem sites and track pollution at a local level. 

heatwAIve

Status date: 17 December 2020

Extreme heat has a negative effect on human health. Due to climate change more intense and frequent heatwaves are expected to occur. The aim of the heatwAIve project was to develop an AI-based voice assistant to inform people about the risk of heatwaves and to provide them with behavioural recommendations. The related information is derived from Copernicus Earth observation (EO) and weather data.

VinoSAT

VinoSAT transforms EO Sentinel-2 imagery into readily available information that will change decision making in vineyards.

VinoSAT services are tailored to address the main vineyard monitoring needs and become a powerful tool in the hands of grape growers and winemakers.

AIDOPS

AIDOPS provides monitoring services based on artificial intelligence for automatic detection of objects and patterns in satellite images. AIDOPS concentrates on the fields of agriculture and forestry. The long-term goal is to provide new automated ways of assessment for inventories and monitoring to detect damage caused by bugs or climate in crops and forests at an early stage.

CROP

The CROP project is aiming to provide a steering tool for agricultural crop rotation. The principle is to offer an exhaustive vision of past rotations but also to make a projection of the rotations in the one or two next years thanks to an AI model, satellite data and other data to characterize the situation (climate, soil, cultural practices, irrigation…).

OAPM

GrassSignal

GIADA exploits gravity field observations, mainly derived from GOCE mission, with others in situ data to build a 3D model of the Earth crust at regional scale. The service results help oil & gas and mining companies in the preliminary exploration activities to identify regions with high potential in terms of natural resources exploitation.

Other industries which can take benefit from the service results are mining companies, or more in general companies requiring a good knowledge of the geological setting at regional scale for resource exploitation purposes.

Anywhere Care

The Anywhere Care Mobile Alarm Service using GNSS assets will enable vulnerable people to be continuously monitored wherever they may be, creating both automatic and user generated alerts for action by Social Care and family carers. MONITORED AI is a space-based application aimed at Detection & Prevention of Illegal, Unregulated and Unreported (IUU) fishing for different stakeholders involved in the monitoring of Environmental Crimes in Europe and Beyond. The AI powered solution integrates Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) imagery and Automatic Identification System (AIS) to autonomously detect dark vessels (no AIS transmission) and spot suspicious behaviour.

VIRTUAL CLINIC DIRECT

Trauma to the tibia or other bones leave patients needing extensive rehabilitation over many months. However, a combination of too few hospital beds and the patient’s preference to recover at home means that monthly trips to the hospital predominate the rehabilitation pathway. The frequency of the visit is suboptimal from a care perspective with the risk of complication and readmission a constant issue. The journey is likely to be inconvenient and expensive for the patient. The need for a service that provides daily, remote measurement of rehabilitation variables is needed for the benefit of all stakeholders.

The recommendation features, warning services, high resolution weather forecasts and snow cover maps are powered by space technologies and space derived data.

NIVCS

NIVCS is a project that leverages Oceanbolt’s ability to process and analyze AIS signals, leveraging the latest big data processing analytics frameworks and the extensive Global Navigation Satellite Systems. The aim of the project is to help combat illegal, unreported and unregulated fishing, while providing transparency into fishery emissions.

COSPARIN

The objectives of this project are the improvement of vulnerability data by using spatial data and world-wide rainfall assessment in real-time via several algorithms that correlate infrared satellite images. The aim is to obtain an operational flood risk management base. The data can be used by competent organizations to ensure real-time crisis management.

InsureApp Service

The objective of this project is to demonstrate a web-based Water Control Room which improves the efficiency of insurance claim management and water management before, during and after weather-related hazards. The key service offered is the Flood and Rain Report Generator which automatically generates reports for specific flood or rainfall events based on information from satellites, radars, gauges and crowdsourcing

STAY

STAY: is a mobile interactive experience that rewards young people for acting positively during COVID-19 or a similar public health crisis.

The platform incorporates live data feeds, Augmented Reality and geo-location into unique learning experiences that give young people the opportunity to earn pieces of digital merchandise in return for their efforts.

PV Forecast Service

The global deployment of solar PV electricity generation is hampered by the unpredictability of the power generated. Better PV forecasts would allow electricity system operators to schedule alternative electricity generation earlier, hence reducing system costs and carbon intensity.  Addressing climate change as effectively as possible is at the core of Open Climate Fix’s mission. 

Careview

Careview is a web-app that uses GNSS positioning to improve the accuracy of outreach and door-knocking to identify socially isolated residents in a city, helping councils save money. This satellite technology is vital to improve the statistical chances of finding socially isolated residents. Careview was the only non-clinical solution to win an NHS Innovation Award in 2017. As a result of the ESA co-funded Demonstration Project, Careview has now been deployed in Leeds and Bury in Greater Manchester.

AirTracks

AirTracks compromises a flexible and cost-efficient Flight Information Service for enhanced aircraft safety during approach and departure at small and medium airports and airfields. AirTracks combines various aircraft surveillance information (ADS-B, RADAR, FLARM, etc) in the vicinity of the airfield. The information will be visualized on a web based display, showing the relevant/customized ancillary information layers in a user-friendly way e.g. flight plan, aeronautical charts, meteorological information as well as safety related notifications to aircraft pilots (NOTAMS).

GridEyeS

The SeaUrchin

The SeaUrchin is an affordable state-of-the-art wearable surf tracker, being developed by Kittiwake Labs Ltd in Cornwall, UK. The SeaUrchin tracker takes advantage of GNSS for tracking surfer sessions and applies novel data analysis for session characterisation and to monitor progress.

ONE CLASS! Open Network for Education

The ONE CLASS! project proposes an efficient satcom based solution integrated with eLearning services, aiming at supporting two main activities:

  1. Basilicata Multi-classes: ONE CLASS! supports rural schools located in the Basilicata Region (IT), which need to face the problem of the so-called “multi-classes” with the additional constraint represented by the geographical isolation.
  2. Social Integration Services for Foreign Unaccompanied Minors (FUM): ONE CLASS! supports social operator entities and reception centres of immigrants and all other NGOs active in the field, which need to offer to foreign unaccompanied minors (FUM) educational and social inclusion services, being often located in very remote areas.
